Centering Health Equity: An open-source, beta framework for built environment projects

READ

The year 2020 made it impossible to ignore the overlapping, compounding effects of the health, social justice and climate crises. It also underscored the importance of charting a new course. The pandemic forced us to face long-standing inequities in access to health and wealth within the U.S. and across the world.

In April 2020, Mithun and the Green Health Partnership (GHP) came together to explore their own varied dimensions of power and privilege within the project delivery process. Erin Christensen Ishizaki and Kelly Worden co-chaired a small, self-funded research team and launched nearly a year of engagement with fellow practitioners in the built environment. The beta Centering Health Equity Frameworks are written for built environment practitioners and share what the team learned in the hopes that it will inspire others to critically challenge their practice in the pursuit of health equity and inclusion.
